We teach a variety of Eastern and Western techniques. The focus is to apply the rich tradition of meditation in a way that makes sense in busy complicated city lives.
Our teaching stems from Namgyal Rinpoche, a Canadian-born lama recognized as a master both in the Burmese tradition (where he was a monk for 8 years) and in the Tibetan tradition (where he was later recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the 16th Karmapa). Our spiritual director is Acharya Doug Duncan, long-term student of Namgyal Rinpoche.

Alokabodhi Buddhist Group is the new name of the Maidstone Buddhist Group that has been meeting regularly for about 30 years.
The group essentially practices Theravada Buddhism and receives regular support and visits from nuns and monks of the Amaravati and Chithurst monasteries of the Thai Forest Tradition.
Our purpose is to provide an opportunity for anyone interested to develop meditation and mindfulness practice within a supportive group of like minded friends. Meetings usually include group meditation with readings or recorded talks followed by discussion. We provide a forum for learning and sharing our experiences of integrating the Buddhas teachings into our everyday life.
Our monthly meetings are being held in the beautiful new function room at The Blackthorn Trust Medical Centre, St Andrew’s Road, Barming, Maidstone.

The Bodhi Garden is a non-denominational Buddhist charity based in Brighton. It is dedicated to offering Buddhist teachings and opportunities for meditation practice. It was formed in 2001. It currently offers one-day and two-day meditation retreats led by experienced Buddhist teachers with whom we have established connections.
