We offer assistance to those preparing to take or who have taken the Kalachakra initiation by hosting empowerments, retreats and the ngondro teachings as well as facilitate a practice groups online for those who would like to actualize the complete Kalachakra path.

Rime Shedrub Ling

Tradition: Vajrayana, Non-Sectarian
Affiliation: Rime
Website: http://www.rimeshedrubling.dreamhosters.com/site/
Teacher: Khenpo Ngedon
Spiritual Director: Younge Khachab Rinpoche
Notes and Events:

Younge Khachab Rinpoche is the Younge family lineage holder, a treasure revealer and a true nonsectarian scholar and Dzogchen yogi. He is the seventh incarnation of Khachab Tulku who was known for his accomplishment of Yamantaka and his healing siddhis.

Rinpoche makes his home in the United States and he is one of the most qualified lineage masters alive, holding both the titles of Geshe and Khenpo. He is known for his accessibility, youthful humor and brilliant discourse.

Rinpoche is recognized as a Khenpo, specifically from the Kagyu Thag ten Nying Je Ling Monestary. He is still recognized as their first Khenpo. However he felt the need to pursue the Dzogchen studies of Nyingma and Bon after realizing the profound path of Rime has been followed by all the great realized masters of the past. He received further Mahamudra clarifications with the Drikung Drubwang Rinpoche and stayed in retreat again for four months under his personal direction.

Younge Khachab Rinpoche is acknowledged as a traditional master of the Mahamudra and Dzogchen practices. He received all signs of accomplishment in the Six Yogas of Naropa, particularly Tsa Lung and Dream Yoga. He is fully able to transmit all stages of the Vajrayana path. He is known in India and Nepal for his vast knowledge of the Rime tradition.

The Saint John Shambhala Meditation Group is a local group of meditation practioners inspired by the Shambhala Buddhist teachings of basic goodness and enlightened society.  We are affliated with Shambhala International whose spiritual head is the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

Our community of meditation practioners meets Wednesday evenings at 7:00-9:00 to strengthen our individual practice and learn more about meditation.  We meet in "The Sitting Room" at 42 Wentworth St. near King St. E.  We meditate together for an hour, followed by tea and discussion or contemplation based on selected readings.

Instruction is provided for newcomers in "shamatha" meditation, or the practice of "peaceful abiding".  Meditation is a natural state of the human mind - at rest, open, alert. The basic meditation technique predates all religious traditions, though it is used in one way or another by each of them. Undertaken as a steady practice, meditation allows the mind to relax and settle. It encourages our inherent qualities of stability, clarity and mental strength to emerge.

Occasionally we host weekend meditation programs directed by senior teachers.  These activities are usually coordinated with other Shambhala centers in the Maritime region with whom we share resources and maintain contact.  Please check our website to see if there are any upcoming programs in the near future.
