PA-AUK MEDITATION CENTRE (SINGAPORE)

Pa-Auk Meditation Centre (\'PAMC), established as a direct lineage of the Pa-Auk Forest Monastery (Pa-Auk), Mawlamyine, Myanmar, received the strong endorsement and support of The Most Venerable Pa-Auk Tawya Sayadaw Bhaddanta Ᾱciṇṇa (the Sayadaw), the Abbot of Pa-Auk.  PAMC is dedicated to the Sangha of Pa-Auk (the Sangha\\) as led by the Sayadaw, and draws its spiritual direction from the Sayadaw.

PAMC was registered in Singapore on 20 August 2007, and its registration was gazetted in the Singapore Government Gazette Notification No. 2555 dated 22 August 2007.

OUR MISSION

PAMC serves to promote the learning and practice of Samatha and Vipassanā meditation, based on the teachings of Lord Gotama Buddha, as taught by the Sayadaw at Pa-Auk.

PAMC\\\'s principal activities include the following:

  • providing a conducive venue for the learning and practice of meditation under the guidance of resident teacher(s)
  • organizing  regular meditation retreats, courses and Dhamma talks (based on the Tipiṭaka, the Pāli Texts and the Commentaries),  taught by teachers authorized by the Sayadaw (and/or the Sangha)
  • publishing of Dhanmma books and CDs of Dhamma talks approved by Pa-Auk.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to establish a meditation retreat centre with an environment that encourages the observance of the Vinaya and precepts, and conducive for the long-term practice by both monastics and lay meditators. The retreat centre is envisaged to have separate facilities for male and female meditators, including separate meditation halls and residential facilities, providing a certain degree of solitude and minimum distraction.

Our longer term vision is to have a Sangha residing in Singapore, forming part of the larger Pa-Auk Sangha, so that the Sadhamma (true teachings of the Buddha) can be taught and practised, can take root, develop and sustain, and will flourish in Singapore and beyond, for the welfare and happiness of all.

OUR LOGO

PAMCs Logo, comprising the Asoka Lion Pillars topped by the Wheel of Dhamma, is similar to that of Pa-Auk. The Logo encompasses the following key features  :

  • It symbolizes PAMCs lineage of Pa-Auk Forest Monastery
  • Lion  is representative of the Buddha in many ways; Lion also symbolizes Singapore, the Lion City
  • The words Sīla (morality), Samādhi (Concentration), Paññā (Wisdom) as inscribed on the Wheel of Dhamma, represent the undertaking of Threefold Training (of the Noble Eightfold Path) that will systematically purify ones body, speech and mind (of defilements)  in order to realize Nibbana, a state of supreme peace and happiness

The Logo hence depicts PAMCs direct lineage to Pa-Auk, and its aspiration  to be the place where :

  • The true teachings of the Buddha (the Sadhamma) are taught, and the Wheel of Dhamma turns,
  • The Threefold Training is undertaken and practised, can take root, developed and  sustained, will flourish in Singapore and beyond, for the welfare  and happiness of all.

Notes and Events:

Path Press is a non-profit entity, which handles legal matters and holds the copyrights of all Ven. Ñāṇavīra Thera’s writings together with writings of Ven. Bodhesako and Sister Vajirā. It was founded in Sri Lanka in 1987 by Ven. Bodhesako. It is an entity with a small group of 4 bhikkhus and 3 layman (upāsakas) who are aspiring to make the late Ven. Ñāṇavīra Thera’s teachings more available for those who are interested.

‘Path Press’ was a name of convenience, originally intended to include those who, through the years, have contributed their various talents to bring Clearing the Path to realization. Path Press was not planned to be an ongoing publishing house. However, it now turns out that there remains sufficient worthwhile material from the writings of the Venerable Ñāṇavīra Thera to issue other volumes to the present work; and there are a few other writings, unpublished or now out of print, which, like Clearing the Path, are of high quality, worthy of publication or reprinting. Therefore it was established a publishing house, called ‘Path Press Publications’ (www.pathpresspublications.com).

R.B.S.S. BANGLADESH ORPHANAGE

BACKGROUND:

There is a fundraising initiative in Perth, W.A. (supported by the Buddhist Society of W.A.) that helps to raise money to run a small orphanage named Rajasthali Bouddha Shishu Sadan (R.B.S.S.).

Background: Rajasthali Bouddha Shishu Sadan (R.B.S.S.) Buddhist Welfare Orphanage is a charity, non-profit child development organization. In 1990, aimed to helping the helpless, a Noble Monk namely Ven. Shanta Joti Mahathero, with some well-wisher was founded to this organization and the name was given “Rajasthali Bouddha Shishu Sadan (R.B.S.S.) Buddhist Welfare Orphanage Firstly, this organization was initiated only with 5 orphans, but presently more than 60 orphans and deprived children are getting opportunities from this organization.

The organization is primarily committed to educate the children who remain uncared for, and deprived of opportunities of education, particularly in the tribal/indigenous families of Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh. Since its inception, the (RBSS) organization has relentlessly educated desolate children and to educate them with true human values for a better future.

Rajasthali Bouddha Shishu Sadan (R.B.S.S.) Buddhist Welfare Orphanage is a charity non-profit child development organization. (A child care home) There is a fundraising initiative in Perth, W.A. supported by the Buddhist Society of W.A. that helps to raise money to run a small orphanage named Rajasthali Bouddha Shishu Sadan (R.B.S.S.). The orphanage is located in the Rajasthali,Rangamati Hill Tracts outside Chittagong in Bangladesh and is currently 6O children from various tribal groups in the region. The orphanage are provides all necessary accommodation, food, clothing and medicinal supplies for the children as well as facilitating their education and spiritual development.

The orphanage began in 1990 on the impetus of kindness generated by both lay and monastic Bikkhu sangha within a particularly impoverished area of the Rangamati Hill tracts. Here they were finding the incidence of parentless children and children considered to be living in hard-core poverty’ to be very high. The orphanage thus began as a volunteer- driven initiative, a theme which still continues circa 19 years later, the Orphanage has been very pro-active in seeking help for their project and thus 1997 they wrote a letter to the Buddhist society of W.A seeking assistance as a fellow Buddhist organization. The Buddhist Society decided to support the project but not to run it. Thus its responsibility was taken up by Ms. Judi Rushforth who facilitated and developed the link for 6 years until 2003, when it was handed on to Mr. Scott Andrews from Australia. Rajasthali Bouddha Shishu Sadan (R.B.S.S.) Buddhist Welfare Orphanage\\\'s mission is to help children living in dire poverty. Through the generosity of contributors, we provide needy children with a variety of programs and services to meet their basic needs and enhance their self-esteem; raise their physical and educational levels in a meaningful, lasting way. Since 1990, Rajasthali Bouddha Shishu Sadan (R.B.S.S.) Buddhist Welfare Orphanage has been providing assistance to children and families struggling in terrible poverty. With the help of above who have been supporting to RBSS, we are continuing to help the poor children and growing up healthy and educationOrganization name:  Rajasthali Bouddha Shishu Sadan (R.B.S.S.) The orphanage began in 1990 on the impetus of kindness generated by both lay and monastic Bhikkhu Sangha within a particularly impoverished area of the Rajasthali, Rangamati Hill tracts. Bangladesh.

Type of organization:  A charity, non-profit child development organization.

Vision: The disadvantaged children and community have to achieve their basic rights and be able to contribute their well-being in their family, community and country.
