The Newman Society was founded to promote Dharma in Israel by means of the establishment and maintenance of a Buddhist Center for the practice and teaching of vipassana meditation, under the guidance of the venerable Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo (one of the best known teachers in Thailand) for as many practitioners as possible. Ajarn Ofer Adi,an Israeli monk and disciple of the venerable Ajarn Tong, is resident head monk and teacher at the Ein Dor center, devoting his time to guiding practitioners and teaching Buddhism. The society’s future aims include providing facilities and accommodation for monks and teachers from other Buddhist traditions. The Society operates in the same manner as the teaching of the practice at the center – on the basis of generosity and donation not for profit or benefit.

Phra Ofer Adi is a monk who been practicing vipassana meditation for 16 years at Wat Lampang Wat Chom Tong in Thailand under the instruction of Ven. Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo. Phra Ofer taught for several years in Israel before becoming a monk in Thailand 6 years ago followed by several years as monk and teacher at a Buddhist temple near Frankfurt Germany.
